Jordan "Praelus" Fernandes is a new addition to the Avant Gaming League of Legends roster, as he joined our starting lineup at the beginning of split two this year; in replace of our previous Jungler, Only. He has made a great impact on the development of our current roster this split and we look forward to seeing where he progresses too in the coming season, as this split is his first official split in the Oceania Pro League.

Above: Praelus featured in RIOT's Split 2 photoshoot.

In light of our split coming to an end; our Community Manager, Taylah, sat down with Praelus to learn more about who he is and how he got to where he is today.

  • Tell us about yourself, where you’re from, what you do on a daily basis

"My name is Jordan or Praelus. I’m from Sydney, and I just play a lot of League of Legends. I play Jungle for Avant."

  • How do you balance gaming and everyday life?

"At the moment it’s a little rough but  having the office has given us that clear designated work time rather than us playing at home, so it’s definitely helped to separate the two."

  • How supportive are your friends and family towards the competitive scene? Is it a challenge not living at home?

"Everyone is pretty supportive towards me playing. Of course they wanted me to study and still do, but they’re still very much there for me. It is a bit rough to live away from home. On my off days, I do travel to see my family and spend time with them."

  • What do you do in your spare time?

"A lot of my time goes into playing games. I sometimes play WOW, Runescape, CSGO and if I’m not playing, then I’m watching YouTube, or sleeping."

  • How long have you been into League of Legends? What were you playing before?

"I started playing around pre season 4, I was playing COD before that and had a few school friends that were into League, so I conformed. I didn’t like it at first but I eventually grew to love it."

  • Tell us about your esports history, how and when you joined Avant Gaming

"I played my first OCS split as a starter about a year ago in 2017, split 1. I played 1 and a half splits with Sin Academy. During 2018 I was waiting for OCS to start however I was approached by Avant due to their previous jungler “Only” being picked up by Legacy"

  • What has been a highlight of yours while competing?

"My highlight throughout my league career was definitely subbing in for Dire Wolves and beating the Chiefs. Being able to play under the best team in OCE and play along side players I’ve looked up to was an unforgettable experience"

  • How do you deal with a loss?

"Surprisingly, I’m okay with losses. I don’t believe that morning over a loss will help. I like to reflect and see what I could’ve done better and try my best to improve for next time."

  • Where do you hope to see this going in the next couple of years? Is there anything you want to study or do you want to pursue this full-time?

"At the moment, I really want to continue doing this for a while. I don’t have anything in particular that I’d like to study. As long as I can still perform and do well, I want to keep at it. I want to ride this out."

  • Do you have any advice for people that are wanting to get into Esports?

"I would say keep doing other things. Make your time spent playing the game and reviewing worth while. Make sure you’re still working or studying and your time will come."

  • How did you go with your first live game?

"The first live game I played was me subbing for Dire Wolves. During the car ride, I was excited, and as soon as I got there, the adrenaline started to kick in."

Jordan will be returning to the rift in the coming weeks, as our League of Legends team faces relegations. Stay up to date with Jordan via his Twitter or otherwise watch our Twitter space to see what he is upto around the scene.
