The ROG Recap

Tue 15th Nov 2016 - 8:05am

Today brings an official end to our trip to Malaysia where we competed in the ROG Masters International finals, after everything was said and done we managed to get out of the group stages with a 2-0 (16-4, 16-9) win over the Vietnamese team “Sabertooth” and a 0-2 (11-16, 4-16) loss against the Singaporean team “Dream[S]cape”. After groups we drew the tournament favourites “The Mongolz” as our quarter final opponents and they gave us a lesson in top tier Counter-Strike we won't soon forget, defeating us 2-0 (1-16, 7-16).

Overall we feel the trip was a huge success and we are proud of what we accomplished, the trip exposed a lot of our weaknesses so we know what to work on but it also highlighted a lot of our strengths, showing us that we are on the right track.

We made a lot of great friends from all around the world and it’s an experience we won’t soon forget.

Everyone at AVANT would like to sincerely thank the following people:

All the staff from Mineski Events, ESL Asia, ESL Australia, ROG Masters and other staff and Talent who made the competition so memorable, their hospitality and generosity is second to none and they allowed us to focus purely on what needed to be done and we hope we have the opportunity to work with you again in the future.

All the Malaysian / SEA fans who came out to spectate and asked for photos at the KLCC, we were humbled that people knew who we were and wanted photos with us, thank you for coming out to see us!

All the teams we had the opportunity to scrim & compete against, we will study those games very closely and come back even stronger next time. A big congratulations again to “The Mongolz” and “Dream[S]cape” the two grand finalists, we look forward to getting some revenge at the ZEN League next year!

Our sponsors: Corsair, NETGEAR, AMD, AOC & MSI, without the support from these great companies none of what we do would be possible, their continued support is what allows us to keep going.

Finally to all our fans at home, the absolute torrent of support over social media before and after each game was unbelievable, it really lifted our spirits and kept us going even in the difficult games.

We are proud to have represented our country and now that we have had a taste of international Counter-Strike we are focused and committed on qualifying for more events in the future.

Until next time,
#AVWIN
